A native of Sarasota, Dr. Askins graduated as Valedictorian from Riverview High School.  He received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. Askins has been in private practice at the Askins & Miller Orthopaedic, P.A., He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is a member of numerous associations, including the American Medical Association, American Fracture Association and the Sarasota County Medical Society.

Dr. Askins takes an active leadership role in our community, supporting local schools in their academic and athletic programs. He serves as a team physician for North Port High School and as a physician mentor for students in the MAST program. His practice specialty focus in orthopaedics is on trauma surgery, arthroscopic reconstruction, and total joint replacement using minimally invasive techniques.
